Known for being one of the finest wine producers in the country, Weinguit Eins Leitz has made it his life’s work to bring the magic of Germany’s vineyards to the rest of the world. Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé is an alcohol-free rosé from the town of Rüdesheim. Pinot noir grapes are macerated for six hours and pressed to create a lush interplay of red flavors.

The final effect? A berries-and-cream like Non-Alcoholic Rosé well suited for casual sipping, mixing into spritzes and apéritifs, and celebratory cheers alike.

Pink in color with cool, red fruit aromas and an elegant minerality. Classic notes of rose hips and sky berries freshened with hints of grapefruit. Fine bubbles and a refreshing backbone of acidity balance out the ripe fruit flavors for a dry finish.

Leitz - Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé Non-Alcoholic Wine

The challenge: It is so important to create alcohol free alternatives, to give people the opportunity to enjoy the taste of wine - without consuming alcohol. Our dealcoholized Pinot Noir appeals to people who appreciate the taste and complexity of wine, but who are searching for an alcohol-free alternative. The new ZERO-POINT-FIVE-line is not only
dealcoholized to a very low level, but also low in fat, low in sugar, and contains roughly one third of the calories that traditional wine with alcohol contains. By removing the alcohol, we also remove the metabolism-slowing down and dehydrating effects associated with it, as well as the many risks brought about by being under the influence of alcohol.

Another advantage of the ZERO-POINT-FIVE is, that the same plant compounds that provide health benefits in wines with alcohol have also been found in abundant quantities in alcohol-free wines. Times have changed and so has our lifestyle; people with growing health consciousness or a religious background; designated drivers, calorie counters as
well as expectant mothers now have an alternative to drink – ZERO-POINT-FIVE, almost ZERO alcohol.

The technique: To remove the alcohol from our wine, we have used in this case the SCC – a Spinning Cone Column. To preserve the natural Pinot Noir flavours, we have chosen this modern technique. It allows us to extract the alcohol under extremely low pressure and temperature (around 35°C). No flavours will be lost through the treatment of the
wine through the dealcoholisation process. With our knowledge on the technique, we can produce a “real” ZP5 – the ZERO-POINT-FIVE Pinot Noir - real taste without concerns.

There are recorded documents linking the Leitz family winemaking history all the way back to 1744.

Johannes Leitz was born much later, in 1964 in Rüdesheim. His Grandfather, Josef Leitz re-built the winery, which has been completely destroyed after a bombing raid during the Second World War. His father, Antonius Leitz had briefly taken ownership of the winery before his premature death in 1966. This left his wife, with her flower shop, a household and of course the family winery to run. So, it wasn’t until 1985 when Johannes took over the winery that it once again became a primary focal point of attention.

After taking hold of the family business, he has managed to raise the estate from 2.9 hectares to the 140 hectares that we see today. Over the years, Johannes has gained national and international recognition for his outstanding wines. Internationally, his major markets include Norway, Sweden, the UK and USA.

The growth of the winery has had a positive influence over all the ranges of the wines produced. Specifically the Rüdesheim vineyards of Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland and Berg Kaisersteinfels have continued their tradition of being amongst the top dry wines from Germany. All of Johannes’ wines carry his individual signature and show off the varied greatness of the Rüdesheim terroir from which they are born.

With all the growth Johannes has achieved he subsequently produced the new label of Dragonstone and EINS-ZWEI-DRY. These two successfull labels have been recognized and won the “IF Communication Design Award 2009”. In 2011 he has been awarded as “winemaker of the year” by Gault Millau wine guide and in the following years Johannes has made it with his winery to become one of the most popular German wine growers.

These international successes have been a boon: however, Johannes has stayed true to his roots and homeland. He has been working closely with the Ministry of Environment to restore the traditional terraces above Rüdesheim in the Berg Rottland and Berg Kaisersteinfels vineyards and is very pleased to have his son Antonius joining the team as the next generation. A wonderful family story from Rheingau, to be continued…
