A flavorful, smooth and balanced red with a beautiful tannin structure.

Ruby red in color. Red cherry and blackcurrant on the nose. The palate shows dark berry fruit and spice, with beautiful layered tannins on the finish.

    Misty Cliffs

I was such a red wine fan that I keep trying. This one was another disappointment. It is thin, has a weak mouth feel and is pretty much "grape juice". Bummer.

    Sadly very inconsistent

I've now ordered 6 bottles over time of this as I loved it the first go, but at least half have been, dare I say, 'sparkling'. Not sure what happened with the fermentation process or if these are just not being sealed correctly, but the lovely 'smooth' taste of the original is hit or miss.

Maybe unlucky on the 2nd bottle?

I originally would have placed (and did purchase again) this red from Misty Cliffs as a close rival to noughty rouge in the 'closest you can get to the real thing - signed former real thing snob' category. However… this new bottle just opened is far from smooth and rich and is instead, while tasty, dare I say, effervescent if not down right 'sparkling'. It's more like a lambrusco in this case, rather than a cab/mellow. Hoping the other bottle ordered is more like the one I originally 'fell in love with'. :-)
