The Eins Zwei Zero Chardonnay hails from the Pfalz region of Germany, where a relatively warm, dry climate makes for rich, full-bodied wines. Chardonnay grapes are grown, harvested, and fermented before undergoing delicate vacuum distillation to remove alcohol and preserve classic wine-like characteristics. Vinous qualities are delicately upheld in a clean, fruit-forward palate and gentle acidity.
If you’re serving a red and a white option, Leitz recommends this one alongside their Pinot Noir. As far as food goes, we’re looking forward to exploring pairings with fresh, buttery seafood in the summertime and warm, gooey pastas in the winter. I liked this a lot, though it's quite obvious it's not a typical Chardonnay. The zero alcohol makes it taste more like an elegant grape juice, which may sound odd, but captures both the refined flavor and the fact that without alcohol, you can definitely taste the grapes, though it's far from sweet the way an actual grape juice would be. I appreciated that it wasn't oaky, which I'm not fond of in normal Chardonnays.
